At some point in the weeks (or months) to come we will be given the okay by the State of Pennsylvania and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to RESTORE Sunday Worship and gather for the Holy Mass once again. It will be a glorious day to begin the process of being restored to worship. It is likely that we will be limited to 25%-35% of our capacity at first. Our plan is to begin with gathering for the 10am Mass (with a maximum of 50-75 people ) and after a few weeks add the 5pm Mass and then the 8am Mass when that is needed as well. We will move slowly and prudently for the glory of God and the safety of all. We want to spread the Gospel, not germs! In order the plan effectively, Father Chris is seeking to build a Restore Team to assist in planning for our return to Worship and implementing the precautions we will need to follow. We will need lots of help…including YOU! If you would like to learn more, please email Minta Brown and let her know. Thank you to the many who have already signed up, will you help us too?

LAST CHANCE: We are grateful to the 199 people who have completed our Parish Survey on how you are dealing with this pandemic. Please take 3 minutes and give your thoughts. It will help the parish staff in our planning.

Deacon Bill continues to recover. He is being a humble and obedient Christian 89% of the time. Pray for his patience with the process (even harder than during the 76ers Season). He will have another swallowing test on Thursday and we are hoping for good results. He will have a better sense of the course of treatment then. He is grateful for the texts, emails, cards and prayer. Please raise up Cindy…she misses her partner in charity!

Good News for May 8th

Praise God for the gift of our Mother’s. We will be praying for all of our mothers, living and deceased, as we worship this weekend! While we normally give a beautiful rose to all of the beautiful women in our parish, this year we will make a donation in their honor to Guiding Star Home. located next to St. Benedict Church. Guiding Star cares for pregnant moms in need as help at this time. If you are looking for a special way to honor or remember your mom, please watch this VIDEO and perhaps make a donation!

Deacon Bill Bradley has been a gift to our parish for generations. His joy and zeal are contagious. It is with sadness that I share the news that Deacon Bill had a stroke on Wednesday and is currently hospitalized. He can talk. He can walk. He is having difficulty swallowing and that is being addressed with therapy. He will be recuperating for a few weeks and expressed to Father Chris the desire that the Church Family raise him up in prayer. You are welcome to send him an email or a card (please send cards to the Rectory at 1350 East Vernon Road, Phila. PA 19150). Remember his dear wife Cindy in prayer as well. They are people of faith and are confident that God will bring great good from this time of suffering. Please Lord, bring healing and bring it generously and quickly!

Worship with us Sunday at 10am on Live Stream. Please continue to make the effort to join us Live, dressed and ready for worship. This habit will help bring a sense of “normal” to you as well. Are you able to join us for Holy Communion Sunday afternoon? Please sign up HERE. Please make us of the worship aid below and remember we will have Virtual Hospitality again this Sunday. The Archbishop is also inviting people to a daily reflection/retreat during these days, starting Sunday Night. Find more information HERE.

Thank you for all those who teach in our Parish School, Religious Education Program and teach our children in schools throughout the region. God bless your efforts in caring for our young disciples! Thank you very much!

Good News for May 5th

Cinco de Mayo is mostly an American celebration confined to Mexican Restaurants it seems. However, it does recall a military battle in 1862 when the Mexican Army defeated the French Army in Puebla. In the midst of our battle with the corona virus, we need to remain hopeful that victories do happen. Keep washing your hands and practicing social distancing and we will know victory as well!

As Father Chris mentioned at the end of Mass on Sunday (by the way, did you read Sunday’s Bulletin?), the Parish Staff are asking you to take 3 to 5 minutes and complete THIS SURVEY to help us understand how better to serve our community through this time. Please remind others to take it as well, we want to hear from you as we make decisions! We care…really!!!

We begin our study of the Gospel of John this week (Wednesday Night form 7pm to 8pm). Please join on Zoom or on Fr. Chris Facebook Page. Please have your Bible ready and maybe a friend who is also participating that you could call when it is time for discussion. If you have never done Bible Study with us, please consider joining in. If it is not what you want. you can drop out and no-one will know! Try it…you have the time! Be sure to download the handout and print it out so you can take some notes as well…

The parish rejoices in the opportunity to share the Body of Christ with the community in health conscious Communion Services each Sunday afternoon. If you have concerns about how this happens (and is it safe), please email Minta Brown or Deacon Bill who can assist in answering your questions. If you would like to sign up for an “Appointment with Jesus”, please use this LINK.

Oh how we miss being together on Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. Oh how we miss our time in praise as we worship the Lord and are nourished by His Word and Eucharist. As we continue to strive to provide a good experience of “virtual” worship, we have set up a “Sunday Worship Homepage” on our website that will allow you to find everything you need for Sunday Mass (link to Live Stream. Readings, downloadable Worship Aid, link for Hospitality meet up on zoom after mass and more). Father Chris heard the voice of those who wanted “one stop shopping” and praise God we have it. Soon…we will simulcast our Sunday Mass on YouTube as well, allowing you to worship with closed captioning or even with translations to another language!

Praise God for our holy mothers! Remember it is Mother’s Day on Sunday!

Good News for May 1st

As we begin the month of May, we remember the Mother of Jesus, and our Mother, Mary! Today the Catholic Church in the USA consecrates itself to Mary. Join Fr. Chris in this Prayer of Consecration. Each Sunday of May we will pray the Rosary before Mass, starting at 9:45am. Please join us.

Join us at 10am Sunday for Holy Mass via Livestream. The Phila. Nigerian Catholic Community is now streaming Mass from St. Raymond as well. That Mass is at 2pm. You are welcome to join them! Holy Communion will be offered again in Communion Services that meet all the expectations during this pandemic. You must SIGN UP in order to attend.

The Gospel of John Bible Study will begin on Wednesday, May 6th. The Bible Study will be from 7pm to 8pm and will take place on ZOOM or Fr. Chris’s Facebook Page (like we do for St. Raymond Live on Friday Night). You can also use the Call to Prayer phone number. We encourage you to have a friend or family member with whom you can have a conversation with during the Bible Study (much like we do when we are live), Perhaps someone you live with. Perhaps someone you will call on the phone! A study handout will be available in our Tuesday Email.

Good News for April 28

On Sunday we were blessed to hear the story of the two disciples being met by Jesus on the Road to Emmaus. What a blessing that they allowed Jesus to walk with them, listen to them, teach them, comfort them and then use them to bring Good News to the others. Jesus wants to do the same with us in these Easter days. If you have not “worshipped” with us, click HERE. If you want to listen to Father Chris’ Homily again, click HERE. To listen to Kenny’s rendition of”Lord, help me to hold on”, click HERE. To read Sunday’s Bulletin, click HERE.

As you have likely heard, the State of Pennsylvania had rescheduled the PA Primary Election to June 2nd. Mail-in ballots will be used and need to be applied for by May 26th. Applications can be made HERE. Please use our right to vote!

St Raymond High School Meet-up Sundays via Zoom 1 pm-1:45 pm with Richara and JoAnne (and special guests) Pray together, some fun and games, and figuring out how to get through! Please contact Richara at  richara@saintraymond.net or text her at 267-225-8268 for the link.

The parish welcomed more than 40 people last Sunday for our first “Pandemic Communion Services”. People were respectful of our policies, each put in place to keep you and others safe. We will offer Communion Services once again this Sunday. Please sign up HERE. We look forward to welcoming you to the Feast this Sunday!

Please plan to join us Wednesday, May 6th at 7pm for our new Bible Study on the Gospel of John. You can join on Zoom (our Call to Prayer line and hopefully on Live Stream like Sunday Mass and possible Facebook as well). More details by Friday (Father Chris promises). Please spread the word among your family and friends. So many who normally are “too busy” to study the Word of God now have the time! If you are interested in being part of a “small group” and having a zoom conversation during the Bible Study, please email Minta Brown.

Speaking of the Road to Emmaus, look closely at that disciple on the right! Father Chris is available for 10 Minute “Chat with the Pastor”. Schedule a time and Father Chris will call you! It is time to chat, ask a question or pray!

Make time to talk with a few people: Have you ever been in the wrong place at the wrong time? Where?

This week’s topic will be how to deal with the emotions we go through…the many ups and downs…during quarantine. There are so many unknowns…how do we cope? Join us on Facebook or thru our Call to Prayer Line. It is worth your 45 minutes!

Please stay healthy! Walk each day (even if you are walking in place like this). Eat in a healthy way. Get rest. Wash your hands!
