Good News for January 27th

We celebrate the Feast of Saint Thomas Aquinas on Thursday, January 28th. He is a patron saint for all students, especially those who study theology. He died in Italy in 1274 after a life in service to the Church. He wrote amazing works of theology and was a great teacher to many in his beloved Dominican Friars. He was a friend of our Saint Raymond of Penafort who served as his advisor at times. Saint Thomas prayed: Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in waiting for you, and a hope of finally embracing you. Amen.

Are you getting the vaccine when it is offered to you? What information do you still want to know? Join us for our second webinar that will address a great variety of issues around the vaccines being offered. The session will be a Webinar through ZOOM (and streamed to Father Chris’ Facebook as well) on consecutive Wednesday evenings: TONIGHT at 7:00 PM –  January 27th (7 pm to 8:30 pm). This week’s topics will include The Catholic Ethics/Moral Issues around the vaccines, the practicals of getting vaccinated in Philly as well as dealing with the emotional and spiritual effects of having COVID. You are welcome to submit your comments, concerns, or questions ahead of time to Father ChrisPlease spread the word and invite others! JOIN THE WEBINAR ON ZOOM (please remember that on a webinar, you will not be on camera or able to speak but can participate via the chatbox). Both webinars will also be streamed on Father Chris’ Facebook Page. Please sign up (if you live in Philadelphia) to be put on the LIST to get the COVID VACCINE.

As we move through the long season of this pandemic, we must keep our young people connected to the Good News of the Gospel. Please share this VIDEO TEACHING FROM FATHER CHRIS and be sure to download the handout as well so our young disciples will remain in a place of grace!

Can you imagine reading the WHOLE BIBLE in a year? How about listening to it instead? Ascension Press is offering a daily podcast (20 to 25 minutes) that will allow you to listen to the entire Bible in 2021. This FREE resource has been a blessing to Father Chris and others in the parish already. SIGN UP TODAY and allow the Word of God to fill your mind, heart and ears!

Our parish has been live streaming on a service called Live Stream for many years. For a variety of reasons, we have moved our live streaming to YouTube (where we have been for many months now as well as Live Stream) effective LAST weekend. There is a direct link on the parish website as that seems to be the way most people access the live streaming. Please be patient as we make this adjustment. Some people had issues with volume during Mass. We will continue to adjust but urge you to check the volume on your computer or device and realize that there is a volume setting on YouTube as well (at the bottom of the video – be sure that is up too). Questions? Interested in volunteering to be a part of our 10am Video Team? Contact Richara.

As you prepare your 2020 Tax Return, you are welcome to request a End of Year Statement of your Charitable Offerings to Saint Raymond. The letter can be mailed, picked up or emailed to you. Please contact Brandi in the Parish Office (215-549-3760). Have you decided what you are doing with your Stimulus Check? Perhaps a tithe on that blessing to your parish as well?

Lent starts February 17th and we want YOU in a SMALL GROUP this Lent. Make the time to join (in person or on zoom) and reflect on God’s Word with fellow disciples. Contact Minta to find a group that fits your schedule (groups meet throughout the day and throughout the week).

Pray for our teachers and students at Saint Raymond School. May they be the community God desires!
