Pope John Paul II’s Prayer for Peace
Lord Jesus Christ, who are called the Prince of Peace, who are yourself our peace and reconciliation, who so often said, “Peace to you,” grant us peace. Make all men and women witnesses of truth, justice, and brotherly love. Banish from their hearts whatever might endanger peace. Enlighten our rulers that they may guarantee and defend the great gift of peace. May all peoples on the earth become as brothers and sisters. May longed for peace blossom forth and reign always over us all.
Our PODS are READY to launch this week As we face the start of a very strange school year, many parents are looking for an alternative to their children being at home every day. While safety from COVID is valid, so is the child’s need for socializing and the mental wellness of parents. The idea of grouping students into smaller groups in am appropriate space outside the home has gained traction and the groups are often called PODS (read about them HERE). Saint Raymond would like offer parents of school age children the opportunity to have their children join a POD at Saint Raymond. If you are interested in learning more, please complete THIS FORM so that we can begin the process of gathering information. If you are interested in being an adult who provides supervision and assistance to our young people, please contact Richara. We have been blessed with many responses and are grateful!
Let your young disciples be nourished by the Word of the Lord through this video teaching by Miss Arleen. Please download the handout for them as well!
Each week we are blessed by the presence of more and more of our members. We remain cautious in our practices (wearing masks, sanitizing, keeping appropriate social distancing) so that we might do our part to defeat this wretched virus. If you have thoughts or concerns, or would like to get involved with our RESTORE Team, please email Araminta Brown who will happily receive you!
As we know well, Jesus served! Throughout his life he put the needs of others before himself. Our parish is blessed with many who serve others in many selfless ways. We have been presented with additional needs from the community. We need 4 people willing to assist in delivering food within the Mount Airy neighborhood once a month (in partnership with Interfaith Hospitality Network) and we need 12 individuals able to volunteer time one Saturday a month to deliver food to our sisters and brothers at Saint Malachy Church near Temple University (in partnership with the food distribution program at New Covenant Church). Want more information or are you ready to volunteer? Please contact Arleen by email or call her at 215-549-3760. God be good to you!
Can you help our kids at Saint Raymond? Many are in need of a Chrome Book to assist with their virtual learning. Currently, they are either sharing a device with a sibling (or a parent who is working from home) or using a tablet or phone which limits their participation. Could you purchase a Chrome Book for a child for $250? More than Could you make a donation towards a Chrome Book in any amount? Make your donation HERE. Your goodness is greatly appreciated!
The architectural drawing above is the proposed Senior Housing Apartment Building that we hope to build in partnership with Human Good (formerly Presby Inspired Life). These apartments (located at Phil Elena and Williams Avenues) will be for seniors (who qualify financially) from our neighborhood who want to stay in our beautiful neighborhood as they realize that staying in their home is no longer the best option. We still have a few hurdles, including an upcoming Zoning Hearing in October. Before that meeting, there will be a Community Meeting (required) via Zoom on Tuesday, September 29th at 6pm. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us via Zoom (we need Church Members who live in 19150, especially in the immediate area, who will speak in favor of the project). The zoom link will be shared in the week prior to the meeting. If you have questions, please contact Father Chris.
