The Pope is Coming!

Sunday, September 20th

  • Join us to help setup for the Tailgate Party at 8:30am
  • Sunday Mass at 10am (In addition to a blessing for all who will attend the World Meeting of Families and the Papal Events, we will be blessed with our own Donnie Hammond Johnson singing the song “Mary, Undoer of Knots”, a song based on the Holy Father’s special devotion of the Mother of God.)
  • Tailgate Party after Mass until 2pm (We will supply drinks, hotdogs, chips, pretzels, water ice as well as a moon bounce and some great games. Please bring your own chair as well as all the “extras” you may like to enjoy at a tailgate – perhaps a tent, perhaps some food or snacks, even your BBQ – just come and plan to have a good time. WEAR YOUR POPE SHIRTS – or some other St. Raymond Shirt!)
  • African Charismatic Prayer Meeting at St. Athanasius (Experience lively Praise & Worship Music and powerful prayer with leaders from the Charismatic renewal in Ghana and others from across Philadelphia. COME HOLY SPIRIT!)

 

Monday, September 21st

  • Daily Mass at 8am in our Chapel (Join us as we pray for the success of the Holy Father’s visit to Cuba.)
  • Revival (Our bus leaves at 5:30pm and the music starts at 6:30pm. Join us at the Church of the Gesu at 17th & Girard Avenues for an evening that promises to renew your spirit and lead you in recommitting to the Lord and His plan for your family.)

 

Tuesday, September 22nd

  • Daily Mass at 8am in our Chapel followed by the Rosary for Families
  • World Meeting of Families (Twenty-five of our Church members will join 16,000 others at the Convention Center for days of talks, prayer and fellowship as God’s plan and mission for the family is presented. Pray for our delegates; may their experience be a blessing for them and through them for us all! Catch the talks on EWTN!)
  • Revival (Our bus leaves at 5:30pm and the music starts at 6:30pm. Join us at the Church of the Gesu at 17th & Girard Avenues for an evening that promises to renew your spirit and lead you in recommitting to the Lord and His plan for your family.)

 

Wednesday, September 23rd

  • Daily Mass at 8am in our Chapel as we pray for the Holy Father’s safe arrival in the United States.
  • World Meeting of Families (For those unable to attend, watch sessions on EWTN!)
  • African Heritage Mass at St. Athanasius at 7:30 pm (Join Cardinals and Bishops from across the African Continent for this wonderful celebration of the Catholic Faith with an African flavor – great music, dancing and celebration.)

 

Thursday, September 24th

  • Daily Mass at 8am in our Chapel followed by the Rosary and a Eucharistic Holy Hour for Families in our Chapel.
  • World Meeting of Families (For those unable to attend, watch sessions on EWTN!)
  • Pope Francis speaks to the Joint Session of Congress at 9:30am (Join us in our School Hall to watch Pope Francis address our elected officials and join other members of the Church family in a follow up discussion of what was said by the Pope.)
  • Mass with Ghanian Community at St. Athanasius Church at 7pm (Join Cardinal Turkson and other Bishops from Ghana for this lively faith celebration in honor of the World Meeting of Families.)

 

Friday, September 25th

  • Daily Mass at 8am in our Chapel as we pray for God’s blessings on the Holy Father’s speech at the United Nations
  • Pope Francis speaks to the United Nations at 8:30am (Join us in our School Hall to watch Pope Francis address world leaders at the UN Headquarters in New York and then join other members of the Church family in a follow up discussion of what was said by the Pope.)
  • World meeting of Families concludes at 1pm
  • Mass with Knights & Ladies of St. Peter Claver at St. Athanasius Church at 7pm (Join this wonderful fraternal organization for a celebration of God’s goodness as they celebrate the African American Family.)

 

Saturday, September 26th

  • 8am Mass in our Chapel to pray for all the pilgrims traveling to see the Pope!
  • PILGRIMAGE TO THE FESTIVAL OF FAMILIES – BUSSES LEAVE AT 10:30AM (All who signed up for the Festival of Families will journey to the Parkway for a once in a lifetime experience. Consult your “packing list” provided by the Parish Office so that you are ready for a wonderful day and evening with Pope Francis.)
  • Vigil Mass at 5pm in our Church (Join with your Church Family in prayer, praise and fellowship as we do each Saturday evening.)
  • Festival of Families Watch Party – Doors Open at 6pm (Join the Church Family to watch the Festival of Families on the “BIG” screen in our School Hall. From 6pm to 7:30pm there will be a FREE ice cream social with cakes as well. Feel free to bring your own snacks or even dinner as well.)

 

Sunday, September 27th

  • PILGRIMAGE TO THE PAPAL MASS – BUSSES LEAVE AT 9:30AM (All who signed up for the Papal Mass will journey to the Parkway for a once in a lifetime experience. Consult your “packing list” provided by the Parish Office so that you are ready for a wonderful day and evening with Pope Francis.)
  • Sunday Mass at 10am in our Church (Join with your Church Family in prayer, praise and fellowship as we do each Sunday Morning.)
  • Papal Mass Watch Party – Doors Open at 2pm (Join the Church Family to watch the Papal Mass on the “BIG” screen in our School Hall. From 2pm to 3:30pm there will be a FREE pasta and salad dinner as well. Feel free to bring a dessert to share as well.)
