Our second Star Party will take place on Saturday, August 17th starting at 8:30pm in the parking lot. Our start parties offer students in 6th to 12th grade the opportunity to learn more about astronomy (as well as to give praise to the God who Created the Heavens). All are welcome, no charge.
Have you considered going back to school to study more about your faith? The Martin de Porres Foundation offers members of all African Americans, interested in assuming leadership positions in their parish and the Church, the opportunity to student theology in variety of programs. Maybe you are interested? The Church Ministry Institute and the Ministry to Black Catholics both offer a non-degree certificate program in a variety of areas while St. Charles Seminary School of Theology offers the opportunity for a variety of degree programs. In the Fall there will be a variety of workshops for those involved with Liturgical Ministries. The workshop for ALL Readers will be on Sept. 14th (9am-11am); ALL 10am Greeters on Oct. 6th (after Mass) and all Ministers of Holy Communion on Oct. 12th (9am-11am).
Our Friends & Family Parish Picnic will be on Sunday, September 29th after Mass. This gathering (the first of what we hope will be many) will allow us to get to know each other as well as welcoming friends (especially those looking for a Church Home).
On Sept. 29th we will also formally welcome the Civil Air Patrol as they move one of their units to St. Raymond. The Civil Air Patrol offers young people (6th to 12th grade and beyond) the opportunity to explore things related to airplanes as well as search and rescue. The “Year of Faith” will come to end with a Walking Pilgrimage in Center City on Sunday, October 13th. The plan will be to leave St. Raymond after the 10am Mass and begin walking (Vernon Rd to Stenton Ave; Stenton Ave. to Broad Street, Broad Street down town for a 9 mile walk; if you get tired, hop on the subway). The Msgr. Mitchell Scholarship Dinner (raising money for high school students) will be Friday, October 25th.
“Magnificat Day”, a day for Christian Formation and Prayer, will be Sat., Nov. 9th at the Convention Center. Scholarships available through Martin de Porres Foundation.
There will be an International Christmas Potluck Supper on December 6th.
The Archdiocese’s 1st Women’s Conference will be Sat., December 7th. Scholarships available through Martin de Porres Foundation.
